Our mission is to facilitate thoughtful, effective giving to Europe and Africa – and beyond.

Since the opening of its offices in New York City in 2002, the King Baudouin Foundation United States (KBFUS) has served as a knowledgeable bridge between American donors and nonprofits overseas.

We work with individuals, families, corporations and foundations, and help them support their favorite causes and organizations – whether it’s a children’s hospital in Egypt, a research institute in Belgium, a business school in Kenya, or an art museum in Italy.

KBFUS facilitates grants to nonprofits based in Europe and Africa, and with Myriad — the alliance for borderless giving — to charities in Asia and Canada as well. Stay tuned as we develop further solutions for giving to other parts of the globe.

KBFUS is a ‘philanthropy architect’ – we craft personalized solutions for one-time gifts, recurring donations through donor advised funds, planned giving with legacy funds, and gifts of artworks to museums overseas.

In addition to our work with donors, we also partner with European and African nonprofits. With an American friends fund at KBFUS, they can receive tax-deductible gifts from U.S. donors, while saving the trouble and expense of setting up their own charity in the United States.

Over the past 3 years, KBFUS facilitated close to $100 million in grants, providing much needed funding to hundreds of nonprofits working in a diversity of fields.

KBFUS is a U.S. public charity within the meaning of Sections 501(c)(3) and 509(a)(1) of the Internal Revenue Code. Donors are eligible for a U.S. income tax deduction for their contributions, to the extent permitted by U.S. tax law.
